Lavinia Giuliani Ricci’s path to real estate began in 2001 when she moved with her husband to the United States. After more than a decade practicing corporate law in the European Union, Lavinia turned her attention to settling her family in a new culture. During these first years in the United States, she seized the opportunity to reconnect with a lifelong appreciation for gardening by earning a certificate in Landscape Design from the Bronx Botanical Garden. Living in Manhattan, where she had the experience of purchasing and renovating co-op apartments, led Lavinia to pursue a new career as a real estate broker.
Since joining Brown Harris Stevens in 2006, Lavinia has represented many Europeans – particularly Italians – who are looking to buy or rent a residence in New York City or invest in residential property here. She has developed particular expertise assisting foreign nationals in the purchase of co-op apartments, which offer many advantages, but often present unique and complex challenges. Through her work, Lavinia has become the bridge between two different cultures – Italian and American.
Lavinia also works with the human resources departments of companies in the temporary or permanent relocation of employees from locations abroad to New York City. She calls on her knowledge of the various lifestyles available in the city’s many neighborhoods as well as her own experience of moving to a new culture to guide these clients as they begin a new phase in their life.
Lavinia’s representation of clients seeking investment properties ranges from identifying promising residences or buildings in central Manhattan, Harlem, and Brooklyn, to providing post-acquisition services. She is, for example, available to oversee property management and make introductions to additional needed professionals such as accountants and attorneys.
Although Lavinia does not practice law in the United States, her extensive experience with contracts and negotiations enables her to offer sound advice and provide strong representation to all of her clients.
