Kathi's love and enthusiasm for New York City is evident through her involvement in real estate. Her energy and warmth is apparent to anyone who meets her. In the particularly fast-paced world of real estate, Kathi has that quality of making you feel totally comfortable, as if you have known her for years. Starting with the initial discussion and meeting, to the successful closing of a purchase, sale, or rental of your home, Kathi’s detailed understanding, knowledge, and attentiveness to your needs makes her stand out from others. She forms trustworthy relationships with every seller, buyer, and owner/landlord she works with. As one enormously successful real estate developer has said, “You absolutely have to love what you do,” and Kathi Jacob absolutely does.
Her career in the real estate business began at a small boutique brokerage company. Shortly thereafter, Kathi joined Brown Harris Stevens (then Halstead Real Estate) so that she could combine her passion for this fabulous city with the progressive technology and marketing reach that the company provides, without losing that neighborhood feeling.
Whether you are selling your home, or you are a first-time buyer; whether you need more space, or are downsizing; or want that one-of-a-kind pied-a-terre; be it uptown, downtown or anywhere in between, Kathi's experience, work ethic, and dedication will make that process happen effectively, efficiently, and rewardingly. Kathi makes sure to keep up with the marketplace, with new or upcoming developments and neighborhoods, whether it be the outer borough or beyond. Her clients extend internationally as well.
Prior to real estate, Kathi graduated from the University of Maryland with a BA degree in Film & Television. Immediately upon graduation, Kathi and a handful of other dedicated individuals formed a videotape production & post production facility. It is now one of the largest film/video and computer graphic centers in Manhattan. While working on some of the largest television and advertising projects in NYC, Kathi developed a knack for turning words and ideas into action. The importance of budgets and aesthetic knowledge in the film/television industry has helped her succeed in real estate.
Kathi met her husband, who is an Emmy Award-winning Television Sound Mixer, while working in TV/Film. Realizing that two people in the all-consuming world of entertainment meant never seeing her young children, Kathi decided to leave the excitement of TV and start raising her children (much more exciting!). Kathi has been a Greenwich Village resident for over 25 years. Her love of the neighborhood is quite evident in her involvement with the community's schools that both her daughter and son attended. Although her children are now college graduates, nothing beats having the experience, familiarity, and ability to navigate the often times daunting process of finding the right NYC elementary, middle, or high school for your child. That keen expertise in both the public and private school system is integral in NYC real estate. It is that same skill set that helps Kathi to find her clients just the right apartment.
Understanding the needs of the community is who Kathi is. She volunteers every Monday at the Hebrew Union College Soup Kitchen and can be counted on to volunteer for a variety of events and causes. Her love of animals and pet shelters (both her dogs are North Shore Animal League rescues), is evident through her membership on the Board of Directors of the Washington Square Park Dog Run. In addition, the Jacob Family helped found The New Shul, a progressive synagogue in the West Village. She participated in its vitality and growth not only as a congregant but also as a member of the V’aad, a voluntary organization that helps strengthen and maintain the common vision of such a unique and diversified community.
