Joel grew up in New York City giving him an early appreciation for the various neighborhoods and fantastic architecture that the city is known for. He projects a calm assertive energy that makes his customers feel relaxed and unstressed. Joel has an encyclopedic memory for people he has met, and especially buildings and neighborhoods. Joel has an unusually broad knowledge of real estate issues obtained through a professional role in real estate brokerage and related industries as well as through formal education. Having 4 children, Joel fully understands the challenges and needs involved for a family seeking housing in New York City.
In late 1995 he proudly affiliated himself with Brown Harris Stevens (then Halstead) with the opening of its Greenwich Village office located on Broadway near Union Square. Prior to that Joel worked at another well-known firm learning the real estate ropes beginning in 1989. Joel has specialized in the sale and leasing of unique Manhattan apartments, including lofts, townhouses, pre-wars, and modern hi-rises. He has developed expertise in all types of residential transactions, being particularly well-versed in guiding clients through the intricacies of the cooperative and condominium sale and subleasing process from marketing to closing. He has handled several exclusive rental and sale development projects in Manhattan including the design and marketing of these projects.
His other specialties include working with relocation clients coming to New York from every corner of the globe. His knowledge of the market place has also made him highly sought-after for consulting and pricing opinions as well as handling many properties on an exclusive basis. As a seasoned professional, Joel can easily guide customers from Brooklyn to Riverdale, Riverside Drive to Long Island City and advise his clients about what all the various neighborhoods in the city have to offer.
Joel has served on real estate advisory committees, was instrumental in implementing a mentoring program at Halstead, and has trained and motivated other salespersons.
