Stamford is a welcoming, growing city defined by its mix of urban and suburban atmospheres. Though it was once a suburb of New York City, today it’s a thriving city—the second-largest in Connecticut—on the coast of the Long Island Sound. Diverse and boasting a strong sense of community, Stamford is also home to several Fortune 500 companies and many corporate headquarters.

Whether you’re looking for a high-rise downtown condo, waterfront property along the Long Island Sound, or a bucolic countryside estate, you can find it in Stamford. From rentals and starter homes to luxury properties, the housing stock here is incredibly diverse.
Stamford is unique in that it has such a wide array of options. It is not a cookie-cutter city with houses that all look and feel the same. There are homes built in the 1920s and ’30s that are full of charm and character with original period features, as well as new construction homes with modern finishes. If you prefer something in between, there are capes and contemporary homes to suit everyones taste.

Stamford offers many different types of neighborhoods: the private, wooded surroundings of North Stamford; waterfront communities on Long Island Sound; and the high-rise, mid-city living of downtown. Housing ranges from luxury estates to cozy starter homes to maintenance-free condominiums, and the city also boasts a booming rental market.

Home to a large population of working professionals, Stamford offers both a fast-paced lifestyle within its bustling city center as well as a quieter, small-town feel in its suburban and rural areas.
As a Stamford native, I have seen Stamford transform from a small, sleepy town to a vibrant, wonderfully diverse city with a strong sense of community.

Stamford is a city defined by its sprawling nature trails and beautiful beaches, farmers markets, and outdoor festivals. Public beaches like Cove Island Park are frequented by locals and yachting, boating, and golfing are also popular outdoor activities. For hiking, the Mianus Preserve is a great option.
Enjoy paddle boarding, kayaking, or relaxing at any one of our Long Island beaches.

The Stamford Museum & Nature Center holds a Fall Harvest Festival on Sundays in September and October, which is always a fun day out. While you are there, check out the farmers market for some local products including fresh maple syrup right from the Nature Center.

From national musical acts to indie theaters and waterfront beer gardens, Stamford is a unique destination that has something for all ages and interests. The historic Palace Theater, Stamford Museum and Nature Center, and Carriage Barns Art Center all offer cultural programs and activities.
Stamford has been home to The Palace Theater since 1927, and I love it because they have such a wide array of performances, from concerts to comedians and events for kids.

Stamford is less than an hour's train ride away from all that Manhattan has to offer, but also has no shortage of bars, clubs, and nightlife to experience in the city itself.
Bedford Street or Harbor Point are super fun for nightlife.

Discerning shoppers, art collectors, and antique lovers are in luck in Stamford, which boasts everything from curated thrift stores to high-end antique stores, trendy boutiques, major retailers, and mom-and-pop shops beloved by locals.
I like to support mom-and-pop shops that are off the beaten path. Cedar Corners Store is a little shop filled with a mixture of local flavor as well as general Connecticut finds.
